About Outwood Academy Adwick
Interim Chief Executive Officer - Lee Wilson
Principal: Andy Scruby
We are an 11-18 academy based just north of the large, friendly, South Yorkshire town of Doncaster.
We have been a member of the Outwood Family since 2009, and we are happy that in its latest report, Ofsted noted that we are ‘well supported by the Outwood Grange Academies Trust. It is providing significant, carefully targeted and effective support to the school at every level.’ We are excited and confident about Outwood Academy Adwick’s journey back to Outstanding, under our Good rated leadership.
We offer a holistic education that makes learning stimulating, engaging and enjoyable for every student.
In our most recent Ofsted inspection, we were rated Requires Improvement with Good leadership, having previously been rated Outstanding.
Ofsted noted that the ‘recently appointed principal leads school with vision, vigour and a real sense of urgency.’ This has included putting in place new systems which are ‘helping to assure improvement across the school.’
The inspectors were equally complimentary about our sixth form provision, highlighting that ‘it is focused carefully on students’ needs’ and that it ‘raises their aspirations and guides them on to their next steps.’
We have also won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, in addition to being an IQM Centre of Excellence, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.
The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.
We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.
As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.
We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.
All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.
If you share our vision, join our family.
