About Phoenix Primary and Secondary School
Phoenix is a very successful all age special school meeting the needs of children with language and communication difficulties, severe learning difficulties with autism (3-19) in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is a great place to work with excellent facilities, supportive structure and a comprehensive induction and training programme. The school is well situated and occupies a very pleasant site in Bow, East London with excellent teaching accommodation, therapy areas and play areas with opportunities for horticulture,work related learning and Expressive Arts.
The school has been part of Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme and work was completed in September 2013 providing a new 6th form centre, new secondary classrooms and improved curriculum facilities.
The school had its last OFSTED in October 2008 and was described as an ‘Outstanding School’. The school has achieved Autism Accreditation Status through the National Autistic Society since January 2006 and was last accreditated October of this year. The school has also achieved Specialist Schools and Academy Trust (SSAT) status, awarded in 2007 for Communication and Interaction and redesignated in 2010.
