About Sir William Ramsay School
Sir William Ramsay School is a mixed non-selective 11-18 school, with a tradition of Arts College status. The school is seen to be happy and harmonious, with students demonstrating a good attitude to learning and behaving well. Our values of Compassion, Trust, Honesty, Respect, Commitment, Courage and Ambition are at the heart of all that we do.
All our staff, both teaching and support, aim to ensure that all our students achieve their best; whatever it takes, no excuses. Our priority is to build the confidence of students and to nurture their talents and interests. We encourage students to have high expectations of themselves, of each other and of every single adult who works in the school. We are very proud of the achievements of our staff and students and hope that you will want to be part of this success.
In 2014 the school was fortunate enough to be asked to consider expanding by the Local Education Authority. As a result, we have been undertaking a series of exciting building projects, these include: a new build consisting of 3 science labs, 8 classrooms and a Sixth Form Centre. As well as this we have also renovated and extended our reception area, added a further three new classrooms, renovated an area of the school to accommodate our Pastoral and Special Needs departments and developed a new ‘drop off and pick up’ area at the front of the school to improve student’s safety.
Our results in the summer once again included many outstanding achievements from our students in their GCSEs, BTECs and A Levels. These results demonstrated not only the dedication and commitment of our students but also staff and parents/carers who have supported them throughout their studies.
We cater for a wide range of Special Educational Needs. The design of the school allows us to admit students who are statemented for physical difficulties and hearing impairment. This is an outstanding provision where students are given high quality support. We also support students with an SEN statement for specific learning difficulties, moderate learning difficulties and other educational needs.
We care equally as much about our staff as we do our students by offering a competitive employee benefits package which includes an employer contributory pension, gym, employee assistance programme, child care vouchers and free parking along with being fully supported through our coaching and training programme, recruitment reward system, cake Friday and so much more.
