About St Alban's Catholic High School
St Alban’s Catholic High School is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form with academy status located in Ipswich, Suffolk. It is the only Catholic High School in the Ipswich area and religious education forms part of the core curriculum.
The School premises have been improved in recent years with the addition of a new sixth form block and library and the refurbishment of some existing facilities.
Values and vision
St Alban’s Catholic ethos demands that a focus on enriching the spirituality of its pupils. The school motto “Domine ut Serviam” translates to “Lord, that I may serve” and this pledge lies s at the heart of its approach to teaching and learning. By coupling this with a commitment to learning, respecting and caring, pupils are supported to grow academically, socially and in their faith.
The school takes a holistic approach to its pupils, aiming to help them develop into rounded, balanced individuals who can empathise with others. It works to equip them with the skills to participate fully in their communities, with the strength and purpose to lead by their example.
“Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is a strength. Tangible links are in place with schools in other countries to develop project work around moral and social themes. The strong focus on ethical and moral issues in personal, social and health education lessons is reinforced effectively in assemblies. Support for students is well-developed.”
