About The Brunts Academy
ABOUT THE ACADEMY
Brunts is an 11-18 community academy of some 1600 students, including approximately 250 in the Sixth Form, and 150 staff. The accommodation is arranged in subject suiting including extensive specialist areas. There is a full sized floodlit all-weather pitch which is very popular with the local community in the evenings.
Designation as a Specialist Performing Arts college, an International School and a Change School for Creativity we believe, is central in enabling us to provide enhanced provision to benefit students and continue to raise standards.
We offer our students: " an impressive range of curricular courses enhanced by our involvement in the Mansfield Learning Partnership " a host of extra-curricular programmes in music, dance, drama, art, sport, foreign visits and much more. " the opportunity to take responsibility for themselves and others through the School Council as well as helping them to help each other learn in a variety of ways.
The school has been recognised for: " providing a high standard of personal care and well-being (March 2007) " outstanding practice with those young people who find school difficult (February 2008) " exemplary practice for SEN and Every Child Matters (June 2009)
In addition, outcomes at GCSE confirm that teaching is effective across the ability range and this year again saw the school receive a Specialist Schools and Academies Trust most improved school award for our progress at Key Stage 4.
At the Brunts Academy we strive to make all members of our community feel welcome and safe, in turn experiencing a sense of belonging. We believe that only where this exists can learning and personal development progress unhindered.
The Brunts Academy is inclusive. The site is specially designed to give maximum access to people with physical disability and forms part of a through-route family where children with mobility difficulties can join a primary school at the age of five and enjoy continuity until sixteen or beyond. We have strong links with Fountaindale Special School for the disabled, Beech Hill Special School and Portland College
The school has a committed approach to the continuing professional development of its entire staff and provides a thorough programme of Induction for all new staff. The Mansfield Learning Partnership offers wider professional development opportunities and the possibility of cross-school working and employment.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a criminal record check via the CRB.
