About The Global Academy
The Global Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational, 14-19 University Technical College (UTC), situated in Hayes in London. In the school year starting September 2017, the secondary school accepted 150 students aged 14 in Year 10, and 150 students aged 16 to study in Year 12. The UTC aims to welcome up to 800 students in the future.
The school currently offers 50% of its places to students who live within a 5-mile radius of the Academy and the remaining 50% for students to join from anywhere in the UK. It caters for students of all abilities, and is state-funded, so there are no fees to pay.
Global Academy students work towards GCSE or A Level qualifications, at the same time as learning all the hands-on skills needed to work in the broadcast and digital media industry.
Values and vision
The Global Academy lives by a culture of Obsession; they believe obsession is an attitude, a state of mind, not a literal thing. They believe is it about being passionate about every aspect of what you do and going the extra mile because you genuinely care and you love it! This is the context for the school, which believes the culture of obsession drives higher standards, innovation and helps the school to be completely distinctive.
By using obsession to underpin everything it does, the school hopes to create inquisitive, confident and reflective students who can harness their creativity to progress their own well-being and that of others. Its vision is to practically educate young people to be ready for life in the creative media sector, linking all education through its specialism in broadcast and digital media.
