About Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT)
The Twyford Trust was established in October 2011 to allow an existing School, Twyford Church of England High School in Acton, West London, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. The Twyford Trust aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting, and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the Trust is the overarching organisation which provides support for both Trust schools.
Twyford School, Acton was set up by the LDBS in 1981, and is one of a group of 13 LDBS schools in London. The school has an excellent reputation and was rated as ‘Outstanding’ in its most recent Ofsted inspection (May 2012). It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages, as well as a large and highly successful Sixth Form in which Maths, Science and Computing are the largest areas. Since its inception the school has grown considerably and now admits around 900 students aged 11 to 16, and an additional 550 students to the Sixth Form.
William Perkin School, Greenford opened as a Free School in September 2013 with its first intake of Year 7 students, and now has two year groups (7 and 8) totalling 360 students and is already characterised by a very strong and distinctive ethos and a positive sense of community. The William Perkin community strives to embody the School motto of ‘Intelligent engagement with the wider world’, and its specialisms in Languages and Science enhance this further. The staff community, though small, is very positive and highly motivated. Staff who join the school at this stage are likely to be able to take on additional responsibilities as the school grows. Posts are therefore ideally suited to teachers with drive, creativity and enthusiasm.
