About Twynham School
I feel honoured and proud to lead Twynham School.
I continue to be amazed by all that our students achieve in the classroom, in the community, on the stage or sports field, overseas in development work or on the ski slope. Their enjoyment and zest for life is wonderful. They grow in confidence, insight and ambition.
Whether students are aiming for a top university, a rewarding trade or an alternative career, we do all we can to make this possible and our track record is excellent. Every student is unique. We are thoroughly committed to enabling each one to fulfil their potential.
We are ambitious for all our students.
Mr Jy Taylor
Underpinning our philosophy of being ‘ambitious for all our students’ is a broad, balanced, relevant and exciting curriculum which ensures continued progression and development, both academic and personal. We hope that it will enable students to leave school with strong morals, a tolerant and enquiring mind and a positive, well-rounded outlook.
The aim of Twynham Teaching School is to offer this generation of young people and those involved in their education the very best training, teaching and learning, professional development and support services.
As a Teaching School, our key areas include:
•Playing a strategic role in training new entrants to the profession.
•Leading peer-to-peer professional and leadership development.
•Identifying and developing leadership potential.
•Providing support for other schools.
•Designating and brokering Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs).
•Instigating and developing high-quality research and development.
As a National Support School we are widely recognised for our ability and capacity to support the evolving school-led system. We have been appointed as the regional lead Teaching School and have responsibility for the co-ordination of collaborative Teaching Schoolwork in Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole.
Alongside this we are the Pupil Premium Champion School for the South West and the lead school for the Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset Teacher Training Partnership.
Our role as a Teaching School is central to our vision of delivering an exceptionally high-quality provision for our young people, staff and those who train within our partnerships of schools. Our students deserve the very best we are able to offer and that happens where colleagues receive the highest quality training, induction and ongoing professional development.
Being involved in the areas mentioned above is not only rewarding, but is also exciting and fun. If you are interested in finding out more about any of the projects we are involved with or if you would like to find out more about the support we can offer, please do contact Liz Garman, Director of Teaching School at firstname.lastname@example.org.
