About Weavers Academy
Weavers Academy is a co-educational, non-selective secondary school for pupils aged 11-18. Located in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, it is part of the Creative Education Trust, a non-profit education charity with a chain of secondary and primary academies across the Midlands and East Norfolk.
The academy works in partnership with a group of local schools called The Five Wells Teaching School Alliance. There are around 840 pupils on the school roll, around 100 of whom are in the sixth form.
Weavers Academy started life as a Technical Grammar School, before becoming a community school and then a foundation school. It converted to academy status in September 2013.
Values and vision
Weavers Academy is guided by an educational philosophy which is focused on learning, respect for others and respect for the learning environment. High-quality and ambitious teaching aims to develop creative, independent and successful learners in the classroom and beyond.
The Student Voice and School Parliament structure plays an important part in realising the school’s aims, facilitating a dialogue which promotes continuous improvement so that, as well as feeling safe, students are proud of their school and its achievements.
Weavers Academy focuses on the success of every student, encouraging each to achieve their personal best. Good behaviour is viewed as essential, with an emphasis on encouraging pupils to display kind and caring attitudes to each other to create an optimal learning environment.
