Algebraic methods

This resource contains 5 PowerPoint presentations and 1 WordDocument containing LO for this unit, to support the delivery of chapter 1 ALGEBRAIC METHODS, International A level Pure mathematics 2, Pearson.
The LO table should be given at the beginning of the unit and students should complete it with the date when each LO is covered. At the end of the unit students can use the SA column to assess their confidence against each LO

• Cancel factors in algebraic fractions.
• Divide a polynomial by a linear expression.
• Use the factor theorem to factorise a cubic expression.
• Use the remainder theorem to find the remainder when a polynomial f(x) is divided by (ax-b).
• Construct mathematical proofs using algebra.
• Use proof by exhaustion and disproof by counter-example.
