This resource introduces decomposition, abstraction and what makes an algorithm precise, then moves through the four standard flowchart symbols, writing pseudocode, and the three programming constructs of sequence, selection and iteration. The same algorithm is shown in English, in pseudocode and in Python so pupils can see how little really changes between them. It is a ready-to-teach PowerPoint scaffold for an hour-long lesson on algorithms, flowcharts and pseudocode. Includes a trace-table activity, a flowchart design task and a comparison of linear and binary search.
