An exciting real world math problem! Student will be provided with real world data to plan when to hold an outdoor music concert.


The lesson starts with a 10 slide PowerPoint which sets the context and tasks. Students are provided with the actual 5 year history of weather in New York City. From this data they will calculate the average and ranges in order to inform decision-making and finally make a recommendation to the record company.


The challenges this project give children are real; this guarantees that they are engaged and want to succeed in this project.


Also included is the editable data in a spreadsheet allowing you to take this learning further in class. Perhaps by undertaking the same calculations in excel and even creating graphs and charts to show the data.

-real world data manipulation


This project shows children the importance of maths in our every day life and because of the real life nature of the project students are highly engaged with the task, wanting success.

Nearly all the text is scrambled/indecipherable (using a Powerpoint with a PC so it shouldn't be a problem. Would like this fixed or my money returned.
