This PowerPoint is designed to introduce the Law of Conservation of Mass, closed systems and looks at simple examples of conservation of mass in solutions and chemical reactions. This lesson is accessible for students, easy to follow for teachers and is required learning for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers.

Be aware: this resource covers the basics; it does not deal with more complex ideas linked to conservation of mass (e.g., reacting masses) as they are covered in a later lesson. As such, this content may take a whole lesson to cover with weaker students but will be completed very quickly with higher-ability / motivated students.

Follow-up lessons on Calculations involving Mass are available from my shop individually or, alongside this lesson, as part of a whole-topic bundle.
