What’s it for?
Is it time to revive for weather chart? Or maybe you don’t have one but are ready to invest. This one has lots of learning opportunities and has been organised to last.

This resource helps learners to develop a day to day understanding of different weather types, ideal for home settings - parents and grandparents as well as childminders, nurseries, toddler groups and schools.

Learners can be led by an adult or have the responsibility of changing the weather chart themselves either at a key time each day as part of a wider group/class such as circle time and/or can be available to update at any time in an ad hoc way, particularly as the weather changes so frequently!

Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support.

How to use this resource
Full instructions are included within the resource (at very end on page 8), including tips on each page. An adult prints x7 of the pages onto card, cuts out relevant parts, laminates these and cuts out the pieces once laminated. Take care to ensure corners are cut smoothly once laminated at if left these can be really sharp. Blue tac/Velcro dots are added (where exactly included within the resource details).

Once complete the chart can be displayed in a central, accessible spot along with the (included) organisers for the weather symbols and words (eg ‘sunny)’ and the days of the week, dates, months and years which can also be changed daily at the top of the weather chart.

A ‘temperature thermometer’ is included as part of this interactive resource, encouraging learners to think about how the weather ‘feels’, extending their vocabulary. A single clip-style peg is needed for this.

Resource Details
This weather chart is designed to be used as an interactive laminated resource using blue tac/Velcro dots to attach/remove the different pieces to/from it.

  • weather symbols include; sunny, sunny and cloudy, cloudy, rainy, hailing, sleety, snowy, windy, stormy, foggy with an additional (bonus!) rainbow to mark those special moments when one is spotted.
  • alternative (coloured) weather symbols are included - choose to print either page 2 or 3, depending on which set best suits you/your learners.
