Easter shapes and repeating patterns EYFS/ Yr1

Easter themed shape and repeating pattern maths activities.

4 lessons including planning, slides and challenge cards to support simple and easy to resource practical activities.

Learning objectives cover:
Lesson 1 : LO: Identify & describe shapes

Lesson 2 : Identify & describe shapes

Lesson 3 : To continue and create repeating patterns with shapes

Lesson 4 : To create own repeating patterns

Aimed at Early Years EYFS or lower ability Year 1.

Activities include:
Creating Spring pictures using plastic or paper shapes
Creating repeating patterns on Easter Eggs

Children have opportunities to:

• identify shapes
• describe shapes, including identifying and counting corners and sides
• Use shapes to make pictures
• describe repeating patterns (2x and 3x repeats)
• continue repeating patterns (2x and 3x repeats)
• Create own repeating patterns
• Watch the teacher model, work together in a group, practise individually
