This is an excellent, high-quality, progressive unit created as a basic introduction to character descriptions for EYFS children. It stems from the ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ traditional tale with the outcome being a basic setting description (captions and simple sentences) but this can be adapted. Includes immersion, skills building, shared and model write and editing lesson.
There are also pictures and links to related Makaton signs to support children with re-telling the story and developing key vocabulary.
2-3 week unit with all the lessons, PowerPoints and resources provided.
Made for a Reception class but very easily adapted to KS1. Can also be adapted for different traditional tales.
