A simple PowerPoint presentation that begins with students being introduced to the three types of conflict: territorial, interest-based, identity-based. After this discussion is debriefed with the teacher, students complete a graphic organizer that details the South China Sea and Kashmir as territorial conflict case studies. This is then followed by a class discussion about the two case studies and their causes as well as the role of national self-interest. Originally used with an IB Year 1 class, it could be adapted to suit other curriculums and grade levels if desired.
