There are 20 cards in this Taboo pack to practice describing foods in French. There is also a helpsheet of vocabulary if any students need it.

The aim of the game is to get your teammate(s) to guess the word you are describing without saying any of the words in the list on the card or the actual word you are describing.

You can play this as a whole class and split into two teams, or in smaller groups of 4 or 6 and divide the teams equally.

Teams have 1-2 minutes to describe as many of the words on the cards in French. They score a point for each word guessed correctly in the alloted time. If the opposing team hear any on the forbidden words in the list or the actual word they are describing, they shout Taboo and the playing team wins no point for that card and they must move onto the next card. Players can pass on a card if they are stumped, but I would set a limit of 3 passes max!

Once one team has had their go, shuffle the cards and play continues with the next team.

This is a fun game for practicing spoken French and listening to French and giving descriptions on the topic of food.
