This task allows students to put their understanding of ratio into practice by using their reasoning and problem solving skills to calculate ratio in a real life context - mixing paint!
Students will use the master ratio of the palace paint to calculate the pigments and the total cost for each room in the palace. For each room, students will also draw a bar model to show how they split the total litres (L), calculate the volume of each pigment, and find the final cost.
This activity also comes with an additional challenge to provoke higher order reasoning and develop mathematical thinking.
Note: there are 2 versions of the task, in Pound Sterling (£) and US Dollars ($), to use as you prefer.
This download provides both the Editable PPT Version and the PDF Version.
