Outline:

Welcome to the activity and story pack to support children that struggle with the angry part of them.  It is based on elements of the Internal Family Systems Model (parts) - alongside CBT, with visual supports.

It breaks down the model of CBT - by being the facilitator in the process of understanding why a child’s angry part felt so unsafe.  Thereafter, working on a solution focused approach of support.  It offers everything you need to understand the ‘why’ behind the behaviour.

Objectives:

Activity 1: What does My Anger Need to Feel Safe?

  • To begin to understand the link between actions, feelings, and physical sensations.
  • To begin to understand that they are in control of their emotions.
  • To identify a coping mechanism to help them stop anger, before it becomes out of control

Activity 2: Breaking the Cycle of Negative Behaviour

  • To begin to understand the link between negative thoughts and negative feelings
  • To begin to understand the link between negative thoughts, with negative feelings that cause negative actions
  • To begin to understand how to break the cycle of negative patterns of behaviour – using ‘I’m Grateful For …’ statements and/or coping strategies
