Year 9 drama sow , Rival Gangs

Sow and power points to deliver to a year 9 class. Designed to be delivered for class assessments at the end of the unit as group performances .( groups of 3-6)
This sow has been used to create ensemble performances that have been shared across the year group . The topic can be sensitive and needs to be delivered with thought and active engagement on behalf of the teacher. It gives the opportunity for gang culture to be explored , considering consequences using conscience conventions and class discussions.

Covering recap or teaching of split scene, semiotics of colour through costume and music, hot seating, nightmare chair, flashbacks , chorus, stage fighting and ensemble.

Opportunity to use West side story to introduce alternative versions of Romeo and Juliet.
