After a quick Q&A about resolutions it looks at a couple of high profile challenges people undertook last year, each with a 2-5 minute video clip explainer. There are then a couple of slides encouraging pupils to set themselves a challenge for the new year, explaining how this will make them feel good about themselves.

Christmas Assembly: Does Santa really bring your Xmas presents?

A fun, non-religious, Christmas assembly. Best suited to Key Stages 2 & 3. You’ve heard some people saying that Santa doesn’t exist so you’ve decided to do some scientific research! You then consider problems such as: Reindeer don’t have wings! How can Santa visit 380 million children in one day etc All problems are considered in a fun way which pupils really enjoy. No myths about Santa are destroyed in the presentation of this assembly. Lasts about 15 minutes. You could add a prayer and/or carol at the end if that’s your thing!

**A fun, non-religious, Christmas assembly PowerPoint ** This would work with all ages. Themed around the favourite Christmas presents of members of staff, with a quick moral at the end! The involvement of staff makes it very engaging. You could easily add a prayer and/or carol, if that’s your thing. Full instructions included on second slide.

Careers & Jobs Assembly

This assembly very much ticks boxes in terms of the school’s requirement to address the careers dimension with all pupils and achieve the Gatsby Benchmarks. The assembly is suitable for primary and secondary pupils (KS2-4). It encourages pupils to think about jobs and careers by focusing on what jobs school staff have done in the past. This makes it very engaging for pupils.

Progress

Designed for secondary special pupils but could be used across key stages 2-4. Using the assembly template you share and celebrate specific examples of progress of pupils in your school with the audience. The assembly stresses that progress doesn’t have to be in something academic and that being able to recognise your own progress boosts your self-esteem. Full presentation instructions are included on the second slide of the powerpoint.
