The Amazing Alphabet The Amazing Alphabet is part of the Synesthetic Learning approach, a multisensory approach to teaching children with dyslexia. Dyslexic Logic promotes Synesthetic Learning, the idea that learning using all our senses creates a richer memory trace. This means that children are not learning lists of words or lists of spelling patterns, but rather pictures, gestures, stories and rhythms that provide stronger and more appropriate cues for dyslexic brains. The Amazing Alphabet provides a rich system of gesture and image to help children anchor sounds and letter shapes. It was designed by a dyslexia specialist for early intervention work with children with dyslexia and literacy difficulties. Accompanying materials can be found at https://www.dyslexiclogic.com/amazing-alphabet-resources.

The Fabulous Phonics Word Banks – Each list has been carefully compiled to meet the needs of learners needing literacy intervention. Lists are included for all of the most common spelling patterns taught. The lists are designed to be used with a wide range of learners. Simple word lists include only common words, while more complex word lists include a much wider range of words reflecting the more developed vocabularies of many of the more advanced learners that will use them. The word banks include all the long vowels, r-controlled and complex-r-controlled spelling patterns. This book covers a vast array of words suitable for use in literacy games and activities. It was developed to support the DyslexicLogic programme.

Amazing Alphabet Printables Our sound cards can be printed out as a complete set here, or individually (@DyslexicLogic.com) as each new letter or sound is introduced. Each letter also links with an action, shown in our gesture videos. By pairing letters with pictures and actions the pairing between letter formation and sound is no longer arbitrary. Individual sets of cards can be used to ‘fade out’ from pictures to letters, tracking individual progress step by step. This allows children to recognise smaller increments of success and use shape, movement, sound and colour cues to support their learning.

The Amazing Alphabet Word Banks – Each list has been carefully compiled to meet the needs of learners needing early literacy intervention. Each letter of the alphabet has an initial sound word list where familiar words begins with that initial sounds are collected and sorted by word length. This is accompanied by a comprehensive list of CVC words (sorted by initial and final sound where applicable). This allows support to be focused on the precise area of learning the child needs to focus on. There is also a word bank for each of the short medial vowels including initial and final consonant clusters. This allows children to extend their phonological awareness and confidence with spelling longer words while still focused on short vowel sounds. Finally, word banks for the simplest consonant digraphs – th, sh, ch, & ng, have been included. This book covers a vast array of words suitable for use in literacy games and activities. It was created to accompany the DyslexicLogic programme.
