This is a list of 26 ideas that students can look at and put into practice every week until they start their AS course. These ideas can also continue AFTER they have started the Yr 12 course. Some make reference to various websites and others make reference to practical ideas that only require some thinking and a pen.

The idea is to tell students they now work for the Ministry of Immigration/ Foreign Affairs/ the Home office. They are given a fake country name and they have to decide what will be/ won’t be allowed immigration wise, what laws or rules will be in place. A list of 14 questions they have to decide upon. Designed for pair or group work then further discussion.

These various prompts can be used as starters or whilst covering certain topics. Ideal at AS/ A Level but also appropriate for GCSE.

The interest of those little texts is a) to save you some time and b) to be able to give one each to a class (there are 22 of them) and get the class to practise questions leading to such tasks such as “find a person who has one brother” etc… Various lengths to differentiate around your class.

Two no fuss time saving worksheets with exercises in both tenses and then an exercise where students are supposed to choose which of the two tenses they should use. There are references to La Casa de Bernarda Alba and Ocho Apellidos Vascos.

A compilation of reviews and pre-play announcements taken from social media. The aim is to stimulate conversation. How do students imagine a contemporary version of the play? Characters can be cut out and students can have a go at guessing who it is. They can also have a go at writing short tweets in a similar vein about the characters. A good way to enhance their vocab in terms of adjectives. The end slide shows that the situation for some women in various parts of the world has not improved at all.

An easy -due to use of cognates- worksheet about the hymn El violador en tu camino, a movement that started in Chile last year (2019). Can lead to various discussions. Lyrics of the LasTesis hymn are also included.

This worksheet, as well as simply including the endings, also shows what happens to radical changing verbs and gives examples of set phrases you can include anywhere in the subjunctive.
