How to do a dictée in French - good resource for teachers as well with example on how to read it

What is a dictee? Have you hear about it? A dictee is a very interesting practice to work out your, conjugation, grammar, listening skills, French punctuation which has been and still used in France and Francophone countries in schools and during the one week celebration of Langue Francaise and Francophonie each year in March. Students love it and myself have had lots of positive feedback from my students. A dictee is done either by the teacher reading the text for you, having a friend doing it or you can listen from an audio if it is available. So the first reading will be done in a normal speed, then the second one which is the actual dictee will be heard in a slower speed including the French punctuation for example when there is a comma the person reading your dictee WILL HAVE TO SAY VIRGULE in French then the last reading which will be again in a normal speed will give you the time to read over your dictee and correct any mistakes. In class, you will hand over your copy to the teacher for her to correct or she might give you the transcript for self. I will advise not to look at the transcript before starting your dictee in that way you can assess your areas of strength or weakness pertaining to grammar, using the correct tense and your listening skills. EXAMPLE on how to read a dictee to your student or friend: Original short text: Marie aime se promener tous les matins en compagnie de ses chiens Loulou, Minou, Tibou et Zizou. Dictee will be read like: Marie aime se promener tous les matins en compagnie de ses chiens Loulou (VIRGULE), Minou (VIRGULE),Tibou (VIRGULE) et Zizou (POINT FINAL). - which means that when reading the dictee you need to read the punctuation symbols as well! AND NOW WHAT ABOUT FRENCH PUNCTUATION? How to I use that? No worries I am gifting you a FREE RESOURCE with full translation and pronunciation of French translation with this purchase. YOU WILL GET: A text in French (with a short vocab list) for the dictee As BONUS a free resource on French punctuation All the best!
