A thorough series of two/ three lessons (18 slides) on Horace 2.8 with a view to help pupils understand who the characters are and the parts they play in the satire. Developed line analysis questions for pupils to work on as a class with you, or in groups to feedback. A fishbowl discussion set up at the end for the theme of dinner parties in texts. Some Myth and religion recall slides included for mini starters.

Lessons/ revision lessons for OCR Myth and Religion Symbols of Power These lessons take you through The Ara Pacis, Prima Porta, Temple and Bassae and The Amzonmachy as symbols of power. There is a focus on Augustus’ motivations in his use of architecture as propoganda and on how each piece symbolses the power of Greece/ Rome. There are also 3, 6, 8 and 15 mark questions. The information is all filled in for you, but you could take it out and get your pupils to fill in the grid about the Ara Pacis etc to create some independent work. There are links to videos (not mine but helpful and free online) to consolidate information for audio/visual learners.

A comprehensive booklet to be used to help pupils consolidate the satirical texts from the Literary sources. Each section provides a brief history about the writer and the satire that is presented. The booklet then asksd pupils to respond, summarising key information from the test. There are study questions for discussion at th eend of each text. I used this as a homework booklet to reinforce what was learnt in class and as a revision resoucres for the pupils- the discussion questions were the starter for following lessons. This is a series of 11 lessons on the prescribed temples in the OCR Classical Civilisation GCSE. The lessons cover everything your pupils need to know for this section of the exam, so why not save yourself some planning time and download them :) Lesson 1 is free on my shop so you can download it and have a look at the sort of information included in my lessons. This is the first lesson for the OCR Myth and Religion Classics GCSE 1:3- Religion and the city unit. It covers the unit outline and expectations, as well as information about both Greek and Roman temples. There is some discussion based around modern day churches and comparison with ancient structural choices, diagrams for your pupils to label and a fun task for them to complete to help them remember the structure of a temple of their choice (Greek or Roman.) There is also a prep which will lead into the starter activity for the next lesson. I am teaching this unit at this moment and currently using the half-term to work on creating my lessons- I will be uploading a full unit bundle (for a small price) when I have completed it. This lesson should give you a free sample of the lessons you can expect should you wish to purchase and download the bundle when I have uploaded it.

A detailed series of lessons (9 lessons over 33 slides) that cover the Roman Home and family section of the OCR exam. A lesson on the Paterfamilias, independent work on Roman education and an active dinner party set up where pupils each take a role (we took this further by bringing in a guitar for music and having some food). Also detailed analysis on Pliny 2.6 with questions to answer plus my board annotations to utilise. Then analysis of Horace 2.8 with analysis questions for the pupils to do in groups and feedback. A GCSE revision ppt that covers all of the Greek god with images that can be used to test knowledge- after identification, infomation about each God is presented with iconography and terminology., The lesson also contains numerous past paper one/two mark questions to practise and there are two past paper 15 markers at the end with planning/ ideas to help pupils begin a response.

A revision lesson for the Universal Hero unit. To be delivered in class with a 15 mark and a 8 mark to discuss and plan at the end related to Hercules. Information covered with links to videos (not mine- free online) that pupils can access for additional revision about the individual metopes. Best used to cover in class and set for revision for the pupils

A bundle of revision videos for Pliny’s satires that pupils can watch/ use in class or for prep. These videos take the pupils through all of the letters with one giving a bit of history on Pliny. You can view my video of ‘Degredation at a dinner Party’ under my free resources to give you sample of what this bundle will include/ look like.

A revision lesson on the Foundations stories unit of Myth and Religion. Taking the pupils through detailed work on Aeneas with line of Alban Kings. Then Foundation stories links to videos (not mine but free) so they can cover the Kylix and the Birth of Athena. 8 marker planning provided and 15 mark questions you can plan together as a class.

A revision lesson for pupils on Roman Home and Family and Society Taking pupils through the Paterfamilas, Roman edcucation, Roman society, slaves, freedmen and Tomb of Naevolia Tyche. This is a lecture style lesson which I used for revision before the exam so mainly information but all information put together for you so you can add some extra tasks should you so wish. Could also be given to the students to revise from a few days before

A two part video of Petronius’ dinner with Trimalchio. Starts with a bit of history on Petronius and then goes on to two videos talking through the resrouce to help pupils understand the text. The resource is displayed on the screen so pupils could annotate from the recording if they want (I don not actively annotate on the screen) The two parts together are 38 minutes so quite a lot of detail here. This was created for my pupils and they are using it for revision. It could also be used for homework/ teaching/ cover lesson.

A video recorded for my pupils that covers Roman City Life Satire. This video talks through ‘discrimination at a dinner party’ by Pliny and then goes on to talk about Pliny’s life and history. I do have a cold in it so a little muffled on occasion, but it covers the text fully and provides a nice audio/ visual resources for revision to get pupils to annotate and discuss in lessons. Only 7 mintues.
