Shakespeare’s classic tragedy forewarns of vanity and its fleeting values, explores the concept of aging and the decline of control, power and identity. In an age of social media, its vanity and its attached fleeting values, our individual lack of control and our ever-changing identities in the post-modern world, this text remains relevant and essential. The life and work of William Shakespeare. The leading themes within the text and their baring on the post-modern world. The characterisation of the leading personalities within the text. I have created an ever-growing set of materials to compensate for this skill’s gap and students have found these materials incredibly helpful. I have used these materials after students have completed their GCSEs and indicated that they are planning to move onto ‘A’ level, as homework assignments and even as tools of revision. All have worked well for the students. This power point lesson focuses on ´poetry analysis´ – this is essential knowledge. Through a series of structured exercises: the students explore content, language and structure - and adopt these observations into their academic writing. Colourful and interactive, I have received good feedback on this lesson. This is a complete resource. Enjoy.
