Children's Reading Log

Nice little reading log that I use with my mentoree! On each page there is a table with Title, Author, Date, Rating (Stars to colour) and comments. You can fill this in, the parents and even the child themselves. Perfect way to keep track of all books read and how well they have done so! Best to print double-sided and staple in the middle.

Explore Reading! Booklet

This is an amazing resource that I made to get children of any age (I use it for primary and secondary) to look at a wider range of texts and to develop understanding in all areas of writing (eg. structure, layout, purpose, format, text type). This resource is 34 pages but is set to print as an A5 booklet. It has a front cover, a page on how 20 minutes of reading a day can improve reading dramatically, a page on how to prepare yourself to get the best out of reading, a page on how to use the book and a page on all the types of texts the student needs to read. These include newspapers, play scripts, comics, football report, diary, letter, fiction and non-fiction etc. There are a total of 14 to be completed. I give these to my students to complete at home and at least 1 should be done per week; but they could be done in school time. I hope you like it:)

Massive Cheque for Fundraising

A great way of teaching students how fundraising makes a difference with this big cheque! I designed and made this for when our primary students did their business enterprise challenge; where they raised over £200 for the local hospital! I put our school logo on the top right-hand corner, I have left a space for you to edit whatever you like in. Could also be used for maths lessons! To print: either paper/card and laminate to be able to re-use. I also thought 12 pages was too long so have not used the last 2 pages of the banner; you can either make it bigger or not print the last two pages. Hope you like it:)

The New £1 Coin Presentation

A short and sweet yet informative presentation about the new £1 coin! Got lots of facts, descriptions and information about the new design and facts about money and the Royal Mint etc. Would only take about 15/20 mins to go through including discussion time with any questions or thoughts from students. Hope you like it:)

Positive & Negatives of Daydreams Writing Activity

Great worksheet for children to practice their formal writing skills. This sheet has a real-life letter in to a columnist regarding daydreams and what they mean etc. You may need to give students some knowledge on daydreams or allow them to work it out for themselves in private research. Your students job is to write a reply using correct letter structure, tone, and punctuation. Includes brief success criteria for content and writing. Hope you like it:)

Smoking Tobacco Presentation

Great and useful resource about teaching the effects of smoking tobacco to students. Presentation is 16 slides long and includes questions, video link to YouTube, pictures, the effects on you and the body parts itself, followed by a 3 mark exam question and a make your own questionnaire activity to see if the public would like to ban smoking in the UK. Would take a whole lesson to complete. Updated February 2018. Hope you like it:)

What is a Clause? Presentation for English Lesson

Good yet easy way to understand about what a clause is and how to use them; along with the rules of doing so. 16 slides with 4 tasks to complete as you go through it. It takes me a whole lesson but I get students to copy all slides down (not a lot of writing). Hope you like it:)
