The fun thing is: complex Roman mosaics were often pre-built in sections which were then assembled on-site, so there is historical precedent! Don’t worry if a mistake is made - Roman mosaics always had at least 1 intentional mistake as they believed that trying to make a mosaic perfect would be challenging the gods!
