Designed to fit the new AQA syllabus - this full lesson gives and introduction to the course and a lesson in one of the basic frameworks of textual analysis: Graphology. An 8 page hand-out deigned to guide pupils through the process of writing a commentary for their original writing. This includes: a two page guide on how to structure a commentary (including key questions to promote individual analysis); an assessment task where examples of varying grades have been given and pupils have to allocate grades using the marking criteria and self assessment grid to ensure all of the basic frameworks of language have been covered. It is ideally given to pupils before writing their original piece to keep the commentary in mind throughout. An excellent tool to improve students grades with independent study.

A full lesson (recently observed as 'Outstanding') which depicts how to write a formal letter applying for a job. Based on the Edexcel's English Language (Paper 2) imaginative writing task. A fast-paced, pupil-led lesson with varied activities and integrated (graded) peer assessment. Worksheets are provided for differentiation of the task and a full lesson plan shows details of all activities (although the PPT is very straightforward anyway).

(Lesson 7 in a SOW on animal Welfare) A full lesson detailing to pupils how to identify the features of a leaflet (linguistic and format) and recreate these in a writing task, based on the Edexcel English Language exam. Suitable for KS3 classes and KS4. A recently observed Ofsted 'Outstanding' lesson, with a clear presentation. Suitable for all exam boards but designed for Edexcel English Language Specification (also attached) and grade boundaries from 3-6, which can be altered easily to accommodate HA or LA pupils. The lesson contains a think, pair, share starter. The main activity consists of a pupil led analysis of a leaflets (designed to cover a range of language and structural features) and finally the plenary consists of a peer assessment task (worksheet for this is attached). The entire lesson is very pupil-led, containing fast-paced, engaging tasks. Learning objectives. A05: LO1: Communicate clearly, effectively and imaginatively, selecting and adapting tone, style and register for different forms, purposes and audiences. LO2: Organise information and ideas, using structural and grammatical features to support coherence and cohesion of texts.
