I usually photocopy this Elmer Template onto A3 paper and allow the children to decorate their Elmer as imaginatively as possible, using bright colours and patterns. When the children have completed their Elmers, I cut them out and they make a lovely classroom display.

I have used this as part of a Space topic. After we have looked at the division of the globe into 24 time zones, they then complete this worksheet.

I collect pictures of famous people from magazines, (preferably A4 size). Children can choose a picture which they then cut in half. Stick one half onto a piece of drawing paper and draw in the other half. It sometimes helps to turn the paper upside down so that the children look at specific lines, not the person as a whole. They can then colour in their drawn half matching the original as closely as possible. Once finished, the pictures can be mounted and make a great display in the classroom.

If you know The Jolly Christmas Postman you will have seen an example of a diorama like this. They are quite easy to make and look great on display. I have based my example on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, but you could have any theme. There are clear instructions, plus photographs of a finished diorama and images of the four parts of my example. You can use this idea for any book or topic in your curriculum.

I have created this resource for my Year 6 class as a final part of a series of history lessons in the Autumn term, leading up to Christmas.

When making clay thumb pots, the children can design their pot on this sheet. They can create a pattern for the outside of the pot and an image to go inside. The pot templates can be adapted so that the children design Greek or Roman pots, or create special decorative pots for Mothers or Fathers day.

I use the book The Ghost of Thomas Kempe by Penelope Lively as a class reader. I have made up these question sheets for each chapter of the book to help my Year 5/6 class to complete their reading logs as many of them find the language of the book quite difficult to understand. I have also attached the review and cover design sheets which I use.

This is a timeline looking at major developments during the industrial revolution from 1750 to 1860. Children can cut out the information from the second sheet and stick them onto the timeline, or they can write the information on. You could adapt this by adding inventions and developments particularly relevant to your local area.

A crossword based on elements of English grammar and vocabulary. The answers are provided.

Using the grid, children can create an enlargement of the small picture of a snowman. They should be encouraged to work on each square, not to look at the whole picture. I usually do this in the run up to Christmas.

This is a maths activity to do at the beginning of a term, (all becomes clear once you have cracked the code). The questions need to be answered using the four basic operations.

This is a simple cut and stick activity for younger children to match the names of the senses with the correct parts of the body.

Some practice for addition and subtraction of 2, 3 and 4 digit numbers. There are 20 questions on the first two sheets and then the answers are printed on the 2nd two.

This is a series of questions to encourage children to use and understand a calendar. You will need to provide a calendar, but the questions would be relevant for any year.

This is a test which I used at the end of a unit of work based on the families of instruments in the orchestra. The work included finding out how the instrument makes its sound and where it fits into the orchestra. I included live performancess on those instruments that I play, alongside prerecorded examples from a variety of composers. The answers are given on the last sheet.

This is a test of childrens understanding of place value using large numbers, including decomposition.

This is a multiple choice test based on a science topic about bones and muscles (including the heart). I have used this resource with Year 6 students in an International School, where the choice of answers is beneficial for those children who do not have English as their first language.
