Taken from the AQA website and adapted to make it easier to present to teachers. Useful perhaps for departmental meetings and/or training on the new GCSE being taught from this September. Note: It is unclear to me why the higher mark scheme is also levelled 1-5. Surely it should be 6-9? I will enquire with AQA and update when I am clear. For now this is useful to get to grips with the new format and success criteria. If made a little more accessible could also be used for pupils. I will try to adapt to make more pupil-friendly and post this resource also. Hope you find this useful in the meantime.

A resource for foundation students sitting the AQA Spanish GCSE. Each role play from the AQA specimen speaking paper is included, along with the teacher notes and some exemplar answers. There are also some tips for the role play and guidance on how to use the resource.

An exemplar A grade text with a series of activities to enable pupils to then write their own text. Gives students an understanding of key constructions that they can then adapt to make their own version. Focuses on verbs. Also a good reading comprehension activity. Suitable for independent work or cover. Suitable for re-sits and able but less motivated students. Activities suitable for several lessons or a series of homeworks.

Overlap F/H question skills and vocabulary practice.

A review of writing on all topics and subtopics. Simple to work through. Great for revision or independent work. Does not require any additional resources.

A booklet designed for independent learning that will help students prepare for all questions, both foundation and higher, of the writing exam. Useful for cover, independent learning, revision homework etc. Handy hints and tips as well as essential vocabulary. Focus of recall and self testing, as well as practice questions.

A unit of work with vocabulary, grammar and activities to help students reflect on how to create A-A* work for their Speaking and Writing controlled assessments, according to AQA and Edexcel marking criteria. This resource is best used in conjunction with a dictionary (including online), and is also useful for building reading confidence. The exemplar texts could be read out as part of a dictation activity also, with pupils checking what they wrote with the exemplar texts, to help with listening skills. It is suitable for independent or cover work, as well as homework or teacher-led activities.

A sheet to support pupils in learning the conjugation of regular Spanish verbs by heart. Ideal for cover or independent work.

Writing Practice for the new foundation writing paper on likes and dislikes: essential phrases to use and how to learn them by heart.

A comprehensive set of materials to help students prepare for the writing exam. Guidance on each question, including success criteria from the new mark scheme (drawing on my training as an AQA examiner for the new specification). Comprehensive vocabulary lists and tasks to help students revise key structures and vocabulary. I have added the vocab lists as excel lists so that they can be easily copied and pasted into various revision applications, or simply copied and pasted onto word documents. They are the ‘vocab sgeets’ referred to in the handbook. The structure of the handbook encourages spaced repeition and low stakes testing to embed this key language.

A worksheet to help students memorise some phrases in the preterite tense. Ideal for cover or independent work such as homework. Suitable for lower ability pupils preparing for the new GCSE.

To help KS3 and lower ability KS4 pupils learn key words and phrases for giving opinions and brief descriptions. Suitable for the new GCSE writing. Ideal for practicing the basics, next steps, cover work, homework, independent work or just a focused lesson with a challenging class.

A sheet with AQA GCSE marking criteria to enable peer assessment and reflection on next steps for improvement in Speaking Controlled Assesssment preparation. Is for Spanish speaking, but with minor adjustments can be for writing and any language. However, I will adjust for writing Controlled Assessment for those less confident or new to the mark scheme. Can be used for peer assessment, but also to aid self-assessment, or for FLAs/TAs as guidance.
