KS1 and Kindergarten For use with How Rabbit Stole the Fire. This story board planner is best used when printed in A3. Clear guidance is given at the top of each box for how to innovate each part of the story. When I teach this unit, I brainstorm and model each part before I ask the children to record their own ideas. I have included an innovation map, which the children can use if they are stuck for ideas. It might trigger their imagination!

This product includes: 8 Hand drawn pictures with space for writing for the children to cut out, sequence, write about and colour in. Word bank and captions page for children who are sequencing the story and matching the description to the pictures rather than writing 8 pictures to cut out Blank story map page to paste the pictures in sequence To differentiate: -Support could use the pictures and story map page -Core children could cut out and sequence the pictures and match with the captions -More able children can sequence and write independently with given challenges such as ‘Include at least 3 time adverbials’ Sequencing activities usually take a few sessions. Cut, order and stick the activities. Writing captions for the first half of the images Writing for the second half of the activities I usually ask the children to colour after they have met the objectives for that session and finish colouring in at the end. Black and white. No colour ink needed! *Please note that I have arranged the pictures in order already. This is mainly to help teachers. I usually ask the children to cut them out and then give them a little shuffle before they start sequencing to challenge themselves! ** If you need to add extra challenge for children reading and sticking the captions instead of writing, black out the numbers before photocopying!

This is a 4 week unit of work to support learning around the traditional tale of The Three Little Pigs. During this unit, children will learn about the character roles in the story, start to think about traditional story structure, create a basic storyboard for The Three Little Pigs, compare the original story with an inspired version, plan their own version of the story and finally, they will write an original story based on the tale of The Three Little Pigs. This document is divided into 4 week blocks. Week 1: Reading and understanding the story Week 2: Retell the story Week 3: Plan an original version of the story Week 4: Write an original version of the story Each block has individual lesson plans for the week and each lesson is followed by the printable resource (if needed).
