FREE LIMITED TIME ONLY concise A* AS Biology revision notes (AQA)

I’m offering these notes free for a limited time to help students in light of school closures. I’ve condensed the whole A Level Biology AQA course into a series of topic by topic guides. I used these notes alongside practice exam questions and managed to achieve an A* in A Level Biology in 2017. Doing well in biology isn’t all about being ‘clever’, it’s about being strategic and working smart (as well as hard work, of course). I truly believe anyone can do well. I hope that these notes will not just help students understand biology, but also understand exactly what the examiners are looking for. Easy to learn, concise, bullet point revision notes Covers every point on the AQA specification - no more, no less Based on the analysis of 10+ years of past papers and mark schemes (we all know how specific biology mark schemes are) Some example exam data/application questions and model answers to make sure students are fully equipped for the exam Model answers and annotations for 2018 AS Paper 1: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/2018-as-biology-aqa-paper-1-a-model-answers-and-annotations-exam-technique-12305611 Website: www.biologywitholivia.co.uk YouTube channel for A Level Biology tutorials, including past paper walk throughs: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbt--SeFjS_B7ZgrWOqSUmA

Website: www.biologywitholivia.co.uk/ I’m running an online course covering the fundamentals of A Level Biology: www.crowdcast.io/biologywitholivia - teachers feel free to contact me at biologywitholivia@gmail.com if you’d like to arrange places for your students at a discount (I’m DBS checked). Model answers / annotations for this paper to help with exam technique: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/new-spec-a-level-biology-as-aqa-practice-paper-1-and-mark-scheme-11542457 For more resources, from a student who gained top marks (high A*) in 2017, please visit my shop: www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/biologywitholivia I have created this paper which can be used as another ‘specimen paper’. All questions are taken from old exam papers, with a large majority from the 6416 specification. I have made sure that they are all completely relevant to the new specification and included many that cover the new content, which I suspect is what many students need/want to practice most. This paper is in the same format as the AS exam (paper 1) which will be taken at the end of the course. Hence, the maximum mark for the paper is 91 and 2 hours is allowed. I have also included a summary table of the topics that are covered in this paper.

4 steps to getting the most out of your revision using past papers: Do the paper under exam conditions Self-mark the paper (be harsh) and focus on analysing your answers and shaping them into model answers Document what you’ve learned from that paper. Think about the bigger picture, particularly for application / practical / data analysis questions. This will help you develop your exam technique. Create an action plan and follow this up before you try another paper. Try and keep your action plans small and manageable e.g. 25 minutes creating flashcards for carbohydrates because you dropped the marks on that exam question Track your marks using this past paper progress tracker!
