This is a 5 lesson French unit for total beginners, perfect to use with KS2. It teaches children greetings, feelings, saying their name and talking about where they live. All of the lessons are highly interactive and allow children to practise a range of language skills.
There is a PowerPoint for each lesson which includes an audio version of each French word or phrase to make it easier for anyone to be able to teach the lessons. You can also play the PowerPoints without the audio.
Lesson 1 - Greetings
This lesson would be perfect to use as a first French lesson as it involves children learning the most basic vocabulary. The lesson plan gives details of a group starter, how to teach the ‘greetings’ vocabulary, a whole class game, a speaking and listening activity, writing activity and plenary.

There are a mixture of numeracy, literacy, phonics and art activities perfect for the end of term. Examples include counting carol singers, writing acrostic poems and completing sequences among many others. Children can work independently on activities during this busy part of the year or they could be used as part of a whole lesson. This is a 5 lesson Literacy unit all about Florence Nightingale. The plan is aimed at year 2 and gives details of the year 2 curriculum objectives covered. The children develop reading comprehension, writing, editing and SPaG skills during the unit.
All five lessons include a SPaG starter which is always linked to Florence Nightingale.
The main activity in lesson 1 is a non-fiction reading comprehension, which helps children to learn about Florence Nightingale. It is laid out in a SATs style format, containing similar questions to a SATs paper and is differentiated 3 ways.
