This Powerpoint looks at items that students interact with daily at school but have perhaps never considered the connections of them with atoms. For each item, students are expected to identify the atoms making up the items and then complete stretch and challenge tasks about these atoms. This lesson could be used with a higher year 9 or mid year 10 group. Students could be set the task to research the atoms in the items and come to lessons prepared to have the discussions. This would elicit some interest in the task to be completed.
