Finding books to read that are suitable for young readers who have dyslexia can be difficult. But with this handy visual guide, you can ensure all of your pupils can access books and a joy of reading. This A3 colourful poster features 42 books, which are divided clearly into books for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students. This is because many of the books for Key Stage 4 are classed as Young Adult. They all have Accelerated Reader scores, which increase in level the further down the page you go. The of the books are all written by renowned children’s authors. They are an inclusive and diverse set of books that I would gladly give as book recommendations. They are all suitable for dyslexic readers (buff paper, accessible layout, clear font), but can be read by anyone and are particularly great for reluctant readers who can feel overwhelmed by lots of text on a page. Pop this fab poster up in your shared spaces (reception, hall, corridors) or in classrooms in order to show and discuss books with students. Want to entice your reluctant readers into trying to get motivated with reading? Or are you an English teacher struggling to get your students into poetry? Then this fab new resource could be exactly what you need! This is a colourful and visual A3 poster, which explains what verse novels are and gives some suggestions of what books readers can start with. All books are young adult, appropriate for students ages 14+ years, due to some of the content and themes of the books. But all are well-written, quality and diverse texts that I would recommend readily. In addition, if they are on accelerated reader, then I have made a note of this alongside the book. Verse novels have become very popular with publishers and readers, particularly over the past five years. They offer a new, original way of reading verse and poetry, so can be a great way to encourage reading for pleasure.
