I am on my 26th year of teaching. I am so excited to share my creative student centered experiences with others! I love to rock out the classroom! I have taught everything from Geography, Free Enterprise, English, History and Athletic Coaching. I'm devoted to Teaching Like A Pirate: Bold, Daring, Risk Taking and adventurous! As students learn about Andrew Jackson's presidency, they decide what facts about him were positive and negative. Students will use these facts to create an argument to prove that Andrew Jackson was either a hero or villain. Each section has a link that takes students to engaging Jackson learning videos. The Final piece of this assignment is an EXCELLENT Video that wraps up the learning with this: What is the verdict? Andrew Jackson was both beloved and loathed during his presidency. In this imaginary courtroom, you get to be the jury, considering and weighing Jackson’s part in the spoils system, economic depression, and the Indian Removal Act, as well as his patriotism and the pressures of the presidency. The Writing Component: Do you think Andrew Jackson is a HERO or VILLAIN? Does he deserve to be on the $20 bill?

Not only did George Washington lead our new country to independence, he is also considered to be one of our greatest presidents. No one had ever been president before and almost everything that President Washington did set a precedent, or example, for other presidents to follow. In this assignment, students will do the following: Student ASSIGNMENT: 1. Look over this list and choose two of Washington’s accomplishments that you feel are the most important. 2. Use pictures (use very few words, if any) to symbolically represent these accomplishments. Draw the pictures within the picture of George Washington. 3. Outside of this picture, write down why you chose these two accomplishments as the most important. Write two paragraphs, one for each accomplishment that you have chosen. Each paragraph should be at least two paragraphs long.
