A scheme of work aimed at year 8 students but can be adapted for other year groups. Could be taught as unseen for GCSE. Differentiated using aim/challenge/super challenge. Lesson asks students to choose a door to another world (Hogwarts, Narnia, Neverland, Wonderland and Middle Earth.) They then plan the opening and eventually go on to produce a piece of creative writing describing their journey to this other world. Differentiated using aim/challenge/super challenge. Aimed at KS3 but can also be used with KS4 to practice language paper 1, question 5 skills. Please leave a review, i’d love your feedback :)

Used as part of the speaking and listening GCSE module but can work as a stand alone lesson to practice speaking and listening skills. Could also be adapted for teaching non-fiction if needed. Lesson starter asks students to write down a funny story that is either truth or a lie. The teacher then collects these in and returns to them for the plenary. The main part of the lesson involves students been allocated a topic and having to work with others to gather information about that topic to eventually present their findings.

Lesson is based around the concept of Room 101 with students being asked to think about their pet peeves and eventually work in a group to present a short presentation on why it should be put into room 101.

Lesson is aimed at developing students’ understanding of the General Election. Lesson looks at the history of voting, what happens in a General Election, who the main parties and leaders are & what the main pledges of each party are. Students have a choice of tasks based on speech writing. They can either write a speech arguing that the voting age should be 16 or write a speech arguing which political party should be in power.
