An engaging and visual powerpoint to teach A-Level Drama pupils about the style of Hedda Gabler, for the Eduqas A-Level Drama Component 3 exam. (Text in Performance) Quotes are used to further understanding and help students to consider specific lines for the exam.
This powerpoint is a great way to introduce the exam unit for Hedda after reading the text and understanding the plot. It is crucial that pupils understand the original conditions of all texts for the Eduqas exam, and so this is a useful revision tool. Use with a revision quiz or exam question.
An engaging homework research booklet for A-Level Drama students to learn about and understand the Social, Cultural and Historical Context of the play Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. Includes relevant questions and is broken down into Social, Cultural and Historical sections. Modern day images from media and TV are included to help to communicate contrasting ideas of context.
A generic sound cue sheet for lessons of Drama or Performing Arts for students to fill in. Great as exam preparation for A-Level, as a lesson activity for students on the production pathway, or as a homework/online learning activity.
This powerpoint is a great general resource for A-Level or even GCSE students, to learn about sound configuration in theatre. It has extra detail on specifics for sound designers to consider, alongside general sound equipment information. Use alongside my sound cue sheet for a complete lesson with activity.
This powerpoint explains a variety of both Naturalistic and Epic Theatre rehearsal techniques, ideal to use with any combination of texts for Component 3: Text in Performance, in Eduqas A-Level Drama.
A detailed unit of work that explores the Morality Play Everyman through practical drama exploration. This scheme was used for Year 12 pupils who initially struggled to grasp the language of the play (Middle English) by using contemporary scenarios, and introducing the idea of what morality is first, through structured drama work. This helped them to understand the plays context and ideas. This scheme could be adapted easily for more distanced learning in the classroom, and for a variety of exam specifications at A-Level.
Lesson 1- What is Morality?
Lessons 2, 3 and 4- Plot
Lesson 5- Character
Lesson 6- Language
Lesson 7- Themes
Lesson 8- Social, Cultural and Historical Context
Lesson 9- Spectacle (Staging)
Lesson 10- Harmony (Soundscape and Melody)
There is also further planning notation and ideas for using the text for the Reinterpretation, for the Eduqas Component 1: Theatre Workshop. These sections are loose in timescale and can be adapted to suit the needs of learners and how they are approaching the reinterpretation.
A character table (great as a homework/flipped learning task or lesson activity) to explore and develop understanding of the character roles in Everyman. I recommend printing on A3 to ensure enough space.
This lesson powerpoint for A-Level Drama explores the structure of Hedda Gabler in terms of the acts, similarities/differences to the well-made play genre, and rise and fall of action, with relevant quotes throughout. A great and engaging lesson with relevant detail for A-Level students.
This lesson explores the key theme of Emancipation Unattained (in the Eduqas A-Level Drama exam guide) through the perspective of character aspirations. This is explored through a Sim of Hedda Gabler and her aspirations and interactions, which students must create a plan for. Does she obtain her true life aspirations in the play?
This powerpoint is useful for revision purposes for Eduqas A-Level Drama Component 3 and exam prep, as it places key quotes from the exam board guide into a manageable format for lessons.
