What’s included? This download includes two pages (x2 A4 sheets, portrait orientation) featuring one word search for number names from ‘one’ to ‘twenty’ (page 1) and the answers - clearly showing where all words are hidden (page 2). The wordsearch letters are arranged in a x10 by x10 square grid and featuring easy to read size 25 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font. Who’s it for? This simple, clear resource has been carefully designed to encourage young readers especially pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support. Knowing these number names (words) is also an important part of maths in these year groups as questions and information often include the number name as the written word (e.g. ‘three’) instead of the more easily recognisable numeral (e.g. ‘3’). Resource layout The twenty number name words have been organised into four groups of five, clearly showing all hidden number words in order up to twenty. There are x20 words to find in total. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards) vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (up and down - both directions). Recommendations I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified. Some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible (if words are instead ‘crossed out’ this makes the letters harder to read and identify). This word search may be printed and laminated to be reused, or this black and white version is a good version for photocopying. This word search is also available in colour (with and without the matching numeral to also find) These colour versions are also available in my TES shop. Useful for… I find word searches like this good for a range of uses including as an introduction to a topic, follow on activity for early finishers, a related fun approach to a topic themed focus and as an engaging homework task, useful in supporting reading, spelling and maths. I hope this resource will be useful to range of educators including parents, support workers, additional and special needs assistants, tutors and teachers. What’s included? This download includes four A4, portrait pdf sheets to practise reading and writing to correct x8 simple sentences. Every sentence has x3 mistakes to correct. The last two pages include the same sentences with every mistake made clear. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details Pages 1 and 2 both include x4 sentences, each in a separate box, illustrated with a simple image on the right. Both pages include the same instructions at the top - making it clear to learners that there are x3 mistakes in each sentence and what these mistakes might be. Mistakes may be spellings, capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. There is a clear space for learners to write their name at the base of both pages. The words included and spelling errors make the level of this activity aimed at learners who are learning Phase 5 phonics. Sentences include words containing Phase 5 sounds (ea, ay, a-e, aw, ph) as well as a knowledge of common high frequency words including she, you, his, are, and, said, see, their, not, with, at, the, to, do, that, can, in, loved, dad. The pictures provide clues to assist reading unfamiliar words (e.g. lions, zoo, sheep, lambs, chicken, grapes, bake) to encourage learners to use a range of reading skills when decoding these sentences if they are not at a level to read them on-sight. Pages 3 and 4 clearly show the answers in exactly the same format to encourage learners to be autonomous in checking their own learning. Each mistake is circled in pink and corrected clearly underneath to make clear to learners exactly where and what each mistake was. What’s included? This download includes one A4, pdf sheet (portrait) to practise handwriting the days of the week (in order). Resource details Two versions (including this one!) of this resource are available in my TES shop in the same layout, both have clear starting dots as well as ‘tracing dots’ to follow for every letter. On this version the learner writes onto a pale grey which shows each letter shape. The font used is Sassoon Infant Std - size 100. This activity has been designed to write straight on. This is a simple, easy to play game to reinforce number bonds to 10 knowledge in a fun, easy way. Designed for Y1 and Y2, suitable for Reception aged children. This is a two player game so ideal for a parent and child or support assistant and individual child needing some extra help in remembering these number bonds. I have used this successfully online but have adapted it here so that it can be played at a table/desk…or on the floor! Everything needed to play this simple game is included in the pdf and the instructions are clearly printed on the game itself. Of course these can be adapted to suit each learner as long as it is fun and they are learning thats the key thing! This resource has been designed with a ‘Winter theme’ to practise ‘counting in 2’s’ using pairs of various different objects up to 20. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details Page 1 includes x5 rows of different objects to count the total number of (in twos) There is a 2’s number track at the top of page 1 to support learners (if needed) and a clear box on the right of each row in which to write the total number of different winter-themed objects. These objects include ice skates, mittens, robins, socks and snowmen/people(!) The answer sheet on page 2 is in the same design for learners to check their own answers, encouraging autonomy. What’s included? This download includes five A4, portrait pdf sheets to investigate ‘2D shapes and their properties’, presented as a ‘workbook’ for learners to complete through investigation. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details The six 2D shapes investigated in this workbook are a circle, triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon and hexagon. Page 1 is the ‘workbook’ cover and includes a clear space for learners to write their name. There is related 2D shape information included on the cover for learners to read as well as a visual list of what learners will need to complete the workbook - to encourage autonomy. Pages 2 and 3 include six sets of questions (one set for each shape) all in the same layout. Learners are to complete this information so that the information becomes clear, accurate) facts about each shape. Where learners do not know the information (to complete these questions) they can investigate each shape using the clear picture provided and count e.g. the number of sides of each shape and ‘circle’ the corners/vertices to complete the information. To complete these pages there are ‘2D shape names’ to cut out on page 4 (along the right hand side) which learners should be made aware of (dotted lines indicate where to cut). An adult could pre-cut these x6 shape names for those learners who struggle with using scissors/find cutting frustrating/demotivating. Pages 4 and 5 include the same information (as pages 1 and 2) completed in the same layout for learners to check their findings. There are also some ‘quick match’ questions at the very end of page 5 to recap what they have learnt. Suggestion It would be most helpful for learners to have access to a tangible set of these 2D shapes to pick up and investigate to complete this workbook. What’s included? x4 sheets total for Phase 2 phonics (Set 1 - satpin). x3 sheets with x6 cards to cut out plus x1 ‘answers’ sheet. All landscape orientation, pdf format Who’s it for? This ‘Phase 2’ phonics practise activity set has been designed practise sounding out and writing simple words using only sounds in Phase 2. This set focuses on letters s, a, t, p, i, n. This activity is ideal for groups/individuals to be getting on with independently and/or for learners to revisit these sounds with an adult. This resource has been designed for Early Years children, pupils in Year 1 who are just learning these sounds for the first time or who need some practise/reinforcement of these sounds. This resource is also ideal for learners with additional learning needs. How to use it? An adult cuts along the dotted lines and places the set of x6 word cards on a table top. Learners look at the image on the left (of each card) - say this out loud and sound it out. Learners then write these sounds as graphemes on the lines (on the right) of each card/strip. A visual answer sheet is included which learners can use themselves to encourage autonomy. Resource Details… ALL images featured here have been chose because they CAN be sounded out in the order that the Phase 2 sounds have been learnt. This red ‘Set 1’ (with the exception of ‘nest’ - which contains an ‘e’ from set 3) includes words which all contain the sounds s, a, t, p, i, n. What’s included? x4 sheets, landscape orientation, pdf format. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for pupils in the early years, years one and two as well as older students who would benefit from investigating the concept of ‘symmetry’ and ‘symmetrical’ or students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? This resource has been designed to encourage learners to investigate the lines of symmetry for all x26 capital letters of the alphabet! This also provides an opportunity to explore capital letters which in turn should help with letter recognition for younger learners or those who would benefit with becoming more familiar with shape and features unique to each capital letter. How to use it? The resource has been designed for learners to investigate the lines of symmetry by first cutting around each capital letter to investigate one letter at a time. It is best to begin by folding letters and cutting once learners are sure they have found a solid line of symmetry. A (safety!) mirror could be helpful as a back up to check (especially if letters have already been cut up!) Resource Details… Learners will need a pair of scissors each to begin this activity. Page 1. At the top are ‘larger’ capital letters, each within a dotted box - these dots guide where to cut. Learners can cut out one of these larger letters at a time (to avoid having lots of letters in front of them at once and risk losing some). Learners will need a pair of scissors each to begin this activity. Along the length of base side of the sheet is a set of smaller capital letters designed to be cut with two simple snips (vertically up to the red line and then horizontally) to separate these from the sheet one at a time. These are designed to be used to record findings (answers) - on page 2. The larger capital letters can go into the bin after they have been cut up, folded and investigated. Page 2. Pupils will need a pencil to their write their name at the base of page 2 and access to a glue stick to continue their investigation using page 2. Once learners have investigated and discovered which letters are symmetrical they can snip and stick the smaller capital letters (at the base of page 1) onto either the left or right of page 2 - depending on whether they are/are not symmetrical. Page 3 clearly shows which capital letters are/are not symmetrical, this is intended to be a reference sheet for learners once they have completed their investigation. Page 4 also clearly shows which capital letters are/are not symmetrical, but in more detail - including where the actual lines of symmetry are. For learners who might find the concept of symmetry difficult they can use page 4 (instead of page 1) to explore for themselves where to fold to investigate ‘symmetry’ with support. What’s included? This pdf download includes x3 pages designed in landscape orientation featuring ten pairs of hands (each showing x10 fingers!) to practise counting in 10’s up to 100. This resource has been designed in black and white for easy, clear printing. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for pupils in Y1 and Y2 as well as students needing additional learning support. This resource may be suitable for some pupils in Reception. This has been designed as a ‘cut and stick’ activity for learners who may find ‘writing’ numbers challenging or those who love to cut and stick! The numbers to cut out are positioned at the bottom of the sheet - these could be pre-cut by an adult to speed up the activity or to support learners who find cutting challenging/demotivating. Cutting ‘dots’ are included to guide the children in where to cut ‘out’ (rather than cut ‘up’ !) the numbers! Resource layout Size 40 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font makes the numbers easy to read and the simple layout makes the process of counting in 10’s visually clear to young learners. The headings are in the same font - size 20 and the instructions are size 16. Page 1 The first page has x10 boxes of ten sets of fingers with a large blank box under each image where the learner can cut and stick the correct 10’s number. The numbers ’30’ and ‘100’ have already been typed in the boxes, leaving x8 number gaps for the learner to complete. With two completed numbers to help this is the least challenging sheet in this set. Page 2 The second page also has x10 boxes of ten sets of fingers with a large blank box under each image where the learner can stick the correct 10’s number. This blank version can be printed and the adult can write some more of the 10’s numbers in, (still leaving gaps for the learner) to complete the boxes. If given to a learner as it is (without any numbers written on) this page (page 2) is the more challenging sheet in this set, particularly as the numbers to ‘cut out’ are intentionally ‘mixed up’. Page 3 The last, page 3 is the answers page - ALL 10’s numbers to 100 have been typed in the boxes. This makes page 3 a helpful reference sheet which learners could use to check their answers themselves. Page 3 could be used as a reference resource for display.

What included? One pdf with x7 sets of counting in 10’s (circle) cards, x6 colours plus grey. Each sheet includes numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 and one ‘blank’ card in same style. Colours (and order) of the ‘Counting in 10’s cards’ are red (page 1), yellow (page 2), green (page 3), blue (page 4), purple (page 5) pink (page 6) and grey (page 7). All sheets are portrait orientation. What are they for? The circles can be cut out and used to practise/check ‘counting in 10’s’ to 100 using the image of 'ten fingers’ (on hands!) as a clear visual guide. These have been designed to be simple and ideal to use in various ways to practise and reinforce counting in 10’s to 100. Suggestions include: Game Each learner needs one set of coloured cards each. To play game circle cards can be sorted into colours and shuffled. Cards to be placed face-down in a grid (in random order). Players take turns to turn over one card at a time. If a player reveals their ‘own’ colour the card is kept, if it is not that player’s colour the card is returned to where it was taken from in the grid. The winner is the first player to collect all x10 cards (in their colour set) and position these cards in the correct order from 10 to 100. Treasure hunt These cards could be used for a coloured ‘treasure hunt’ where one set of cards are hidden within a specified area for learners to find, then order (once all colours in set have been found). Various other games could be invented using these cards. Circle sheets are best printed on card (or printed on paper and backed onto card) to ensure the images/numbers are not visible through the paper when reversed during game. See ‘recommendations’ below… Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for pupils in Y1 and Y2 as well as students needing additional learning support. This resource may be suitable for some pupils in Reception. Recommendations This PDF has been designed to print, it could be laminated to enable reuse. Print off as many sets as needed. Quality/durability will be best when printed onto ‘card’ (instead of paper) OR print onto paper, back onto card and laminate to keep for longer. What’s included? This download includes x2 sets (each set includes x2 pages) featuring x20 butterflies in black and white AND rainbow versions. There are x4 ‘A4’ pages in total, all portrait orientation. Each set clearly features twenty butterflies. Each butterfly’s wing shows one part of each double (in ‘dots’) in order/random order up to 20. Learners can complete the other half of each double (by drawing ‘dots’ e.g. with a thick felt pen onto the space on the right wing) and write the total number (of dots) on the line above to complete the sentence e.g. ‘Double 11 is 22.’ Who’s it for? These beautiful ‘doubles resources’ have been carefully designed for early years and pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support. Resource layout Size 20 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font makes the text e.g. ‘Double 2 is …’ easy to read and clearly models the process of doubling numbers to 20 to learners. The different designs in order/random order can be used to introduce learners to doubles and/or consolidate learners knowledge of doubles to 20. Recommendations I recommend that learners explore the concept of ‘doubling numbers to 20’ practically before recording their learning. Using physical coloured matchsticks or lolly sticks and a sheet of A4 folded/with a line drawn down the centre is a simple way to begin! When using these resources small coloured matchsticks could be placed on top of the butterfly wings each time (for a learner with good fine motor control) to then physically count how many match sticks there are in total before drawing the total number of matching dots (on the right wing) and writing the total number (below). These PDF’s have been designed to print and use as practical write-on resource, they could be laminated to enable reuse and improve durability. The black and white version is a good for photocopying.
