A free taster of two afternoon activities linked to the book “Farmer Duck”. The activities include a writing and a creative activity we used when we did the topic of animals and had chicks in the classroom which the children got to watch hatch. Each activity has a few questions which teachers or TA’s could ask, as well as some challenge questions. These activities are suited to Reception aged children.

Help your students recognize punctuation errors using these simple sentence correction sheets. Simply slice into strips for quick early finisher activities, or hand out the whole sheet as an extension activity. Encourage your class to use a colour pencil to make the corrections on the typed out sentence first. Perhaps a friend could then check this over for them before they re-write the sentence correctly in the box. Pedagogs marking stampers are used on this sheet as a visual for students to refer to, to ensure they have checked capital letters, fingers spaces and full stops.

This is a PowerPoint lesson to assist with the teaching of “one fewer”. The ideal starter activity would be to sing “5 little speckled frogs” with your class before moving onto this PowerPoint. A lovely book for Reception in the Autumn term as they are settling into their new schooling environment. My class really enjoyed looking at the similarities and differences between our school day and the school day in the book. Great for helping to sequence the school day and setting a visual timetable.
