Topicabout mental illness provides a window into stress and the toll it takes on young people. Youth today are experiencing more stress and anxiety than ever before. As a teacher you never know exactly what students are dealing with in their lives so topics that they can directly relate to should be treated very delicately. Through this (and not only this) unit students will have a better understanding and respect for individuals who are dealing with issues of depression, alienation and stress. Teachers can help normalize these feelings and behaviors through everyday discussion, everyday interaction and finding ways to help develop an understanding of the students experience. This lesson plan includes step by step lesson plan for teachers, students worksheet with warm up activity, comprehension questions, vocabulary and language exercises, role play activity.
