I am passionate about ensuring that all pupils achieve their fullest potential. I use my membership of professional bodies (Chartered College of Teaching & Association for Language Learning) to keep up-to-date on the latest pedagogical academic research, and incorporate this in my own classroom. I am sharing grammar and PSHE resources, which engaged my own classes, in the hopes that they will teach and inspire your pupils.

I did this with year 11 to prepare for the speaking exam. We looked at how to form questions, how to recognise questions and then we looked at the question they have to ask on the roleplay. We looked at the specimen exams and planned questions together. The next day we looked at the photocard specimen exams and focused on how to understand questions and how to form an answer.

PSHE Domestic Abuse

A lesson aimed at year 9 on the topic of domestic abuse. It uses the story of Helen and Rob from the Archers (the pupils were able to discuss a fictional story and imagine what might happen next in the story). Even though one child hears the Archers at home it still worked! Quiz for the start, the story to be read out by the teacher/individuals, a class discussion of the consequences of the abuse in the story and then some facts to consider about controlling behaviour which is now illegal.

French grammar tense guide

A guide created for year 10 just starting their GCSE to help them pick the correct tense for writing/translation into French. Particularly to point out that continuous tenses in English ‘I am eating’ etc. are not translated word for word (i.e. it is not je suis mange but je mange).
