Cardinal Hume Catholic School is a mixed, non-selective, Roman Catholic secondary school with sixth form in Tyne and Wear, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Gateshead has approximately 1,319 students on record. It belongs to the Hexham and Newcastle Diocese.
Formerly Cardinal Hume Catholic School, Cardinal Hume Catholic School converted to academy status in 2012 and was identified as outstanding by Ofsted in 2014.

Cardinal Hume Catholic School’s aim is to develop student’s knowledge of the Catholic faith in a loving and caring learning environment. The Gateshead secondary school wishes for students to expand their minds and be equipped with the necessary skills, attitudes, knowledge and concepts to succeed. It hopes for students to sustain high academic standards throughout the years.The school’s vision is for students to achieve to the highest of their capabilities in light of the Christian teachings and the Gospel values. Cardinal Hume Catholic School has the motto: “Fide, labore, caritate – In faith, hard work and kindness” and installs this ethos throughout daily school life. Students have the opportunity to extend their experiences beyond the classroom through a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including art club, the debating society, music lessons, archery club and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
