About Chichester Free School

Located in the cathedral city of Chichester, West Sussex, Chichester Free School is a co-educational, all-through school established in 2013. Providing an education for around 900 pupils aged 4-16 in September 2017 and open a sixth form in Septebmer 2018, the school is non-selective and serves children in and around Chichester and Bognor Regis.

Chichester Free School will move to a new site in September 2018, in order to provide better quality facilities for its students and teachers. As a free school, it is state-funded and subject to inspection by Ofsted, but operates independently of the local authority.

Values and vision

Chichester Free School’s motto is “Nurture, Challenge, Inspire”, and this is reflected in the curriculum provided by the school. Students are encouraged to develop a high level of self-confidence and independence, and the wide-ranging curriculum is intended to allow pupils every possible chance to pursue their own interests. As part of this, sporting activities play a huge role in the life of the school, with a large extra-curricular programme available.

Ofsted report

“At Key Stage 3 pupils make good progress and attain well in English and mathematics. The proportion of pupils making more than expected progress is higher than average. More-able pupils achieve well. They demonstrate a keenness to learn in lessons, and their responses to teachers’ challenging questions shows good knowledge and understanding.”
