About Floreat Wandsworth Primary School
Floreat Wandsworth Primary School is a mixed, non-selective primary situated in Earlsfield, south-west London. It is an academy, supported by the Floreat Education Academies Trust, which also has schools in Wokingham and Brentford. When fully subscribed, Floreat Wandsworth Primary will provide 420 places for nursery and primary children aged 3-11.
Floreat Education was established in 2014 and Floreat Wandsworth was one of its first schools, opening in September 2015. In 2016, the Department for Education allowed Floreat to continue as a stand-alone trust. There are plans for the trust to build three more schools in 2018-20, providing for a total of 2,500 pupils when all schools are full.
Values and vision
"Floreat" means "to flourish". The school believes education must be about character development as well as academic knowledge. It has an educational approach focused on what the school calls the 4Cs: curiosity, character virtues, core skills and cultural knowledge.
The school makes use of the Floreat Character Programme for virtuous development. Based on the classical ideal of education, the scheme uses children’s stories to explore character virtues, while creating opportunities to practise virtuous behaviour in school and breaking down the modelling of virtuous behaviour.
Floreat Wandsworth is yet to undergo its first Ofsted inspection, but passed Ofsted’s pre-opening inspection.
