About Godolphin School

Founded in 1726 by Elizabeth Godolphin, Godolphin School has a wonderfully rich heritage. Elizabeth was passionate about educating girls and developing them into assured, well-integrated and skilled individuals destined to contribute proactively to society. Her pioneering spirit still beats at the heart of the school today where the best of tradition blends with a comprehensive, modern, cutting edge education, fully fit for the demands of the 21st Century. We are extremely fortunate to be able to commemorate our founder every year in a special service in Westminster Abbey.

Situated on Milford Hill just on the edge of Salisbury, the Senior and Prep campuses are set in stunning grounds with picturesque views over the city of Salisbury and its iconic Cathedral. Godolphin is very accessible from London Waterloo Rail Station and Heathrow Airport, with a journey of no longer than one and a half hours.

Godolphin welcomes day girls and boarders from age 3 to 18, with over 80 girls in the Prep, and over 370 girls in the Senior School. Godolphin has a flexible approach to boarding; we offer full boarding, weekly or mid-week packages to accommodate Junior (9-12 years), Senior (13-16 years) and Sixth form (16-18 years) boarders.

A uniquely distinctive feature of the Godolphin uniform worn by all girls below the sixth form is the pinny (red in the prep and blue in the senior school); girls are fiercely defensive of its existence and it is worn with pride. The wearing of a pink pinny for birthdays is a much-treasured entitlement!

Godolphin has an extraordinary reputation for art, music, drama and sport and with almost 100 clubs on offer, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award and CCF, there is plenty to choose from. The Vocal Ensemble has repeatedly reached the final of the BBC Choir of the Year competition and is currently the Barnardos Senior Choir of the Year.  Godolphin’s lacrosse continues to be outstanding and the school has been national champions four times in recent years.  Debating is a popular activity across the school with our senior team reaching the national finals in 2015 and being regional champions for the last four consecutive years.  Moreover, our art department has a strong reputation with regular exhibitions locally and nationally and an unbeaten 100% record of girls getting onto their first choice of foundation course.

Consistent academic ‘added value’ and excellent examination results are a testament to our small class sizes, outstanding teaching, the supportive house structure and a dedicated personal tutorial system. We are committed to unleashing and realizing the full potential of our girls. Virtually all of our Sixth Form pupils go on to study at top universities in a wide and diverse range of subject areas.
