About Nexus International School, Singapore (NISS)
Nexus International School, Singapore (NISS) is a private, co-educational international school catering for children aged 3-18. The school enrolled its first learners in July 2011 and now caters for over 800 students from around 50 different countries. It is an authorised IB World School for both the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
The school’s 44,000 square metre campus boasts two gymnasiums, a swimming pool, two sport fields, an auditorium, and music rooms along with science and multimedia laboratories. Co-curricular activities include dance, swimming, drama, journalism, calligraphy and environmental clubs.
In the Early Years, alongside the IBPYP, learning includes elements of the Reggio Emilia Approach, which puts the natural development of children, as well as the close relationships that they share with their peers and their environment, at the centre of its philosophy.
The primary curriculum is based on the IBPYP and the secondary curriculum offered to Years 7-9 is based on a modified English National Curriculum that is taught around ‘Big Ideas’ or concepts. In years 10 and 11, learners follow a full range of courses preparing them for IGCSE examinations.
In Years 12 and 13, learners follow the Diploma programme.
Values and vision
Teaching at Nexus centres on learners’ passions, talents and learning styles to create an education that cultivates the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally. Students are helped to become self-aware and to develop the skills for good decision-making.
Key to thriving in a diverse and globalised world are deep empathy for others and the school focuses on developing this quality in its students.
