About Sir John Talbot's School
Sir John Talbot's School is a co-educational academy school based in Shropshire for students aged 11-18.
The school is part of the Marches Academy Trust. This is a multi-academy sponsor based in Shropshire.
In terms of facilities, the school has spacious classrooms, first-class learning and study centres, fully equipped science laboratories, specialist performing arts studios, Design and Technology suites, a fitness suite, all weather sports pitches, tennis courts and a gym.
The school also has a house system. There is an equal mix of year groups in each. Each house hosts four tutor groups, within which there are up to five members of each year group.
Values and vision
Providing a high standard of education, which personalises the learning experience for each of its students, is at the heart of the Sir John Talbot’s School ethos.
The school’s house system also facilitates vertical tutoring, meaning that students are not part of an age specific form group but, instead, have the opportunity to mix and work together, allowing for collaboration and mentoring to take place.
“Members of the interim executive board are well informed and have an accurate view of the school’s strengths and areas for improvement. They are not afraid to ask challenging questions and hold all staff to account for their work… A consistent approach to developing students’ personal skills results in the good behaviour and their strong understanding of how to be safe. There are strong and highly professional relationships between students and adults. As a result, students work hard and want to do well.”
